The Brandman Centers for Senior Care (BCSC), a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), provides high-quality, comprehensive healthcare services. We are a program of Los Angeles Jewish Health, renowned for providing quality care to vulnerable seniors.
As the Activities Assistant, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
Activities Assistant Functions/Responsibilities:
- Provides initial assessment, and semi-annual reassessment of assigned participants to evaluate functional and social ability, identify major interests, and set realistic recreational program treatment goals.
- Assists the Activity Lead with conducting reassessments to determine progress achieved and update goals, and helps develop and implement a therapeutic Plan of Care.
- Implements an appropriate, creative, individualized, and therapeutic activity program for each participant and monitors treatment progress.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the set-up and application of all therapeutic activity modalities, including exercise.
- Develops and schedules specific therapeutic programs that include recreational and social activities and programming for participants with dementia or sensory deficits.
- Plans and provides both group and individual activities. Greets participants upon arrival at the Center and sets the tone for each day.
- Incorporates the use of volunteers and intergenerational participation into activities.
- Incorporates contracted services for entertainment, art, movement and music therapy into activities.
- Accesses community resources for outings whenever possible.
- Monitors safety, is prepared in case of emergency, and attends to good body mechanics.
- Provides recreational education to participants and family members or caregivers according to recreation therapy standards. Orients participants, family members or caregivers to the PACE Center during the initial assessment and enrollment process.
- When in IDT meetings, shares information on participant interests and social strengths with the Interdisciplinary Team and actively participates in team meetings. Keeps the Team apprised of noticed changes in the participant’s condition.
- Completes documentation in the medical record accurately and in a timely manner.
Education and Experience:
- Degree and diplomas: Must possess a High School Diploma.
- Certificates, licenses: Verification of Completion of CPR (BLS) and first aid training. Valid CA driver's license preferred.
- Experience: At least one year of experience in social or recreational programs providing and coordinating services for a frail or elderly population, preferably in a health care setting.
- Skills/Aptitudes: Bilingual Spanish preferred.
