The Brandman Centers for Senior Care (BCSC), a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), provides high-quality, comprehensive healthcare services. We are a program of Los Angeles Jewish Health, renowned for providing quality care to vulnerable seniors.

The responsibilities of the Medical Assistant include, but are not limited to: 

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule required procedures based on provider orders, confirming with MD/IDT for approval.
  • Coordinate appointments and transportation, including assessing PCA travel aide and driver availability.
  • Ensure all necessary authorizations for appointments, hospitalizations, and transportation are completed.
  • Notify participants, families, and facilities of appointments and provide appointment cards.
  • Document all appointment notifications in the EMR.
  • Inform clinic staff and participants of surgery instructions and necessary lab work (EKGs, X-rays, etc.).
  • Prepare participant records for provider visits, including relevant documentation and authorization forms.
  • Plan and organize outside trips logically, aligning appointments to optimize transportation and participant needs.
  • Respond to inquiries and adjust appointments as necessary, ensuring timely rescheduling and communication.
  • Assist with medical procedures (EKGs, blood draws, injections, vital signs) as needed.
  • Assist physicians with participant preparations and manage physician agendas.
  • Ensure examination rooms are clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Maintain professionalism in communication and attire, ensuring clear interaction with participants, physicians, and coworkers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and report unsafe conditions to ensure a safe environment.

Experience and Skills:

Degree and Diplomas: Must have a Medical Assistant degree from an accredited school.

Certificates & Licenses: Verification of completion of CPR (BLS) and first aid training. Valid California driver's license. TB screening and successful completion of a health examination by a healthcare provider required for employment.

Experience: At least one year of experience working with the frail or elderly population.

Skills & Aptitudes: Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English. Ability to make independent decisions when necessary. Ability to interact tactfully with staff, participants, visitors, and the general public. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work harmoniously with others. Ability to minimize waste and misuse of supplies and equipment. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Knowledgeable in computer use, data entry, and output. Ability to effectively communicate participants’ conditions.
