We are currently seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant/Clinic Scheduler Full Time to join Brandman Centers for Senior Care, a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). This program is designed to help older adults in the San Fernando Valley with complex medical needs so they can remain as independent as possible for as long as possible. We accomplish this by coordinating multidisciplinary services so qualified seniors get all of their healthcare needs taken care of in one place.

The Medical Assistant/Clinic Scheduler's responsibilities are but not limited to:

Responsibilities:

  • Perform EKG, Holter Monitors, Pulse Ox’s, eye checks as requested. Assist with wound care and biopsies as requested.
  • Assist individual physicians with Participant preparations, i.e., removing/putting on shoes, socks, accompanying Participants to exams rooms.
  • Prepare and organize Participants’ charts for physician clinics. Planning and managing physician agendas.
  • Record and collect medical data as requested by physician, i.e., lab/x-ray results, vital signs and history.
  • Coordinate in-house medical visits and/or treatments for Participants.
  • Follow-up with doctors, hospitals, and outside clinics-assist physicians to perform specific exams, vital signs, eye checks, eye pressure checks, EKG, wound care, bladder ultrasound, injections, etc.
  • Request all reports and results of medical tests, visits, and/or progress notes, evaluate and report results of collective specimens to physicians, etc., and preparation of charts.
  • Arrange examining room, check instruments and equipment to make sure they are in a proper condition; keep the examining room neat and clean.
  • Based on received orders for outside trips, makes calls to doctors’ offices, hospitals, etc. to schedule required procedures.
  • Confirms with MD or IDT any procedures requested by specialist for approval.
  • Completes all authorizations for appointments, transportation, hospitalizations and other needs, as assigned.
  • Prepares and distributes appointment notices to Center Coordinator and staff at SNF/RCFE. Enters all appointments into the clinic Outlook calendar and files in clinic appointment folder.
  • Arranges all meal needs/requests with dietary services as needed.
  • Notifies participant and or designated family of appointment and provides appointment card.
  • Notifies RN Supervisor of any lab work/ X-rays needed in advance of appointment.
  • Copies participant records for outside trips, including face sheet, appropriate specialist progress notes, H & P, consultations, Medicare card copy, recent labs, recent orders, EKG results and ECCOS, if appropriate, and med sheets; sends blank order sheet and progress notes.
  • Shifts, rearranges, or cancels appointments as required. Reschedules canceled appointments as soon as possible and notifies participants, designated family members and appropriate staff.

Experience and Skills:

  • Must possess a diploma from college or certified private school in Medical Assistant.
  • Experience: At least 1 year working with the frail or elderly.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred.
