Skirball Hospice is seeking an experienced, innovative leader to provide expertise in areas such as strategy, affiliations and partnerships, community engagement, public relations, and branding exposure. This role involves collaboration with affiliate team members and senior leadership. You will be responsible for network development, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with customers and referral sources, managing the members of the marketing team, special events, and long-term strategy to expand the program's visibility.

  • Minimum of five years’ experience, including three years in sales-oriented senior health services marketing or public relations
  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business, communications, or health related field required. MBA preferred.
  • Valid California driver's license with good driving record
  • TB, COVID-19 and health screening required


  • Proven ability to build and execute marketing campaigns using print, digital (including social media), and direct sale strategies
  • Proven ability to perform data analytics and maintain organizational systems to support marketing efforts
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams to a common goal
  • Strong public speaking skills; educational presentations in senior health a plus
  • Demonstration of strong community networking contacts
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the current healthcare environment, including payer sources
  • Strong knowledge of hospice eligibility requirements as well as federal, state, local and regulations as applicable to hospice & palliative care
  • Proficient in Microsoft office, desktop publishing software, and audio-visual (AV) preparation, EMR and CRM systems
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written; negotiation skills
  • Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities
  • Possesses cultural awareness and sensitivity


  • Directs all daily marketing operations including but not limited to providing direct oversight of the marketing team, oversight of the referral to admission process, and performing community outreach activities (e.g., presentations, exhibits and one-on-one contact with community groups).
  • Grow business through new referral sources.
  • Monitors and builds a positive high-quality patient and referral source experience.
  • Recruit, orient, supervise and evaluate the performance of the marketing team.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director in developing efficient systems to capture facility and market data for admission activities.
  • Create & maintain effective marketing content including oral, print and digital marketing (e.g., presentations, brochures, website, and social media) in collaboration with the Los Angeles Jewish Health communication team.
  • Coordinates special events for Skirball Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Establishes and maintain positive relationships with referral sources, payor sources, facility staff and affiliates, patients and their caregivers.
  • Collaborates with Executive Director on development of the annual budget and routinely monitors the allocation of departmental resources.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans, involving ongoing detailed market/competitor research and analysis. Collaborate with senior leadership on development of new target markets and innovative approaches to existing target markets to build market penetration.
  • Generates reports and presents data to the senior leadership team on departmental operations including the success of strategic marketing plans, innovative programs and opportunities for program development.
  • Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of community resources for prospective and current patients
  • Educates and safeguards staff understanding and adherence to all laws, statutes and regulations regarding anti-kickback, lawful marketing activities (gifts and services), patient solicitation, and accurate marketing materials.
  • Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of hospice regulations as well as relevant regulatory requirements of potential referral sources such as acute hospitals, SNFs, RCFEs, ILs and physician groups.
  • Safeguard privacy and confidentiality for all prospective and admitted patients.
  • Complies with all policy and procedures of Skirball Hospice & Los Angeles Jewish Health.
