Your job is to assist the Lifestyle and Enrichment Director in planning, developing and carrying out an ongoing program of activities to meet the physical, mental and social needs and interest of the residents. You will follow federal and state standards, guidelines and regulations as well as take directions and complete assignments from the Lifestyle and Enrichment Director and/or the Administrator.

Job Functions

  • Work closely with the Lifestyle & Enrichment Director to develop activities for residents. Manage and run those activities, keeping activities stimulating, entertaining and engaging for residents throughout the day.
  • Interact with residents at breakfast encouraging their participation in activities of the day.
  • Assist various support groups or volunteers who conduct programs on Sundays and during the week when needed.
  • Keep an up to date list with contact numbers, dates of performances and comments on entertainers. Make suggestions of new entertainers as well as field trip locations, when and if we are able to take residents on outings.
  • Proactively call residents to encourage their participation for exercise class, and other activities to boost attendance for all activities through the Lifestyle and Enrichment Dept.
  • Ordering Netflix movies, creating movie flier, email flyer to Lifestyle & Enrichment Director, make copies for bulletin boards.
  • Facilitate the resident library committee. Work with donations to the library, seeing that books are stamped before going on the shelves. Keep library organized. Put unwanted, older books in box under desk in library for L&E Director to evaluate.
  • Attends campus events and assist when necessary (e.g. Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Sweethearts Day, outings on and off campus).
  • Bulletin Board care (replacing old background paper and borders once a year, or more often if necessary). The volunteer department will provide assistance.
  • Chai Journal editor, run meetings with residents to help them with their articles for the journal and help residents with article ideas. Put together photos of events and activities and include copy for photos, edit all the articles, fact checking, sending the material to the printer (reviewing and proofreading) and making sure that the journal is distributed once they are delivered to LAJH. The Chai journal is published a minimum of two times and up to four times a year.

Education and Experience

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must have, as a minimum, 1 year experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility.
